Established since April of 2009 , by local resident Dave Green ” Free Beach Ride ” is designed to give back to the community . 100% FREE . The drivers work solely for tips , and can pick up guests at their homes , accommodations , restaurants , shopping centers , and anywhere else . The carts themselves are 100% electric , environmentally friendly with zero emissions . With up to 7 vehicles operating at once , pick up time is typically 15 minutes and often less. During weekends ( our busiest time ) please allow additional time . We cover all of Saint Pete Beach, Pass-a-Grille , Treasure Island , and Johns Pass as a Free Service . Business owners and large groups have no worries , “FREE BEACH RIDE” has the ability for pick-up and drop-off of up to 55 guest at one time
